Today Apple's CEO Steve Jobs resigned as CEO....giving way to Tim Cook. Few years back SONY was very popular in entertainment market. SONY was the leader in Walkman, Audio system, TV and so on...but when Apple launched its Ipod...SONY slowly lost its market and today Apple dominating the entertainment market with its Ipod Nano, Ipod touch, Iphone, Imac, Ipad and many more to come. Full credit to Steve Jobs for this success...in fact some days back Apple surpassed Exon Mobile in NASDAQ for the first time. This shows the company's achievement in all front (commercial as well as customer reach).
Its very sad to know that, Steve suffering from Cancer....
Now the biggest challenge to the successor is to keep up the momentum and expectation of customers and Investors. If this is not met, then it will be the start of decline. Already Nokia is brainstorming to regain its smartphone market, Samsung closely marching and trying every possible move to take lead.....
But the end result is, as an end customer we are getting high quality products with latest technology, but definitely not at cheap price!!!!!

Swami, nice article to start with a long hiatus! One thing that all should remember is effectively SteveJobs is still with Apple. So Nokia,Sony will be wary of that.
But again his health facts are a close guarded secrets so nothing will be very clear. It may be just for stakeholders/stockholders purpose he is retained in some capacity to retain the market supremacy.
Its my gut feeling that Apple will now move to the gaming segment to target the xbox and the playstation. Doing that they actually explore new markets and at the same time retain the headache for these two guys. Systemically Nokia should do lot to re-order its house. So that would take time. Sony yes it has a good chance now to stage a comeback. But having said all that for us indians the basics is Roti,Kapda aur Makkan. With inflation creeping all the time , even an apple fruit is a distant dream for the middle class :)
